Houston

The community offers an enticing healthy lifestyle in the great green outdoors.

Welcome to Houston

Increasingly, the area is becoming a popular choice for new residents. With its excellent amenities, convenient businesses and retail centers, fine schools and leafy parkland, all within easy access to central Houston, it is easy to see what draws newcomers.

Noteworthy communities within the Northwest Houston area include Klein, Cypress, Tomball, Champions, and Spring. The area of Northeast Houston encompasses promising communities such as Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Lake Houston, Huffman, and New Caney.

The communities of North Houston are approximately 20-30 miles from downtown. Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston’s primary airport, is only seven miles away. The newest section of the Grand Parkway, a 180+ mile circumferential highway, now links northeast area residents to The Woodlands, the ExxonMobil campus, and other destinations. Metro, the regional Metropolitan Transit Authority, provides a variety of bus routes, Park and Ride facilities, light rail, and van pooling assistance which take area residents downtown or to other business and shopping districts.

Whatever the housing dream may be, it can come true in North Houston. From golf course neighborhoods to master-planned communities with wonderful amenities to waterfront lake houses, to the outlying acreages offering pastoral living, there is something for everyone. Increasingly popular are the select neighborhoods built with the environment in mind, where harmonious ecological balance and quality of life for residents are the goals.

One of Northwest Houston’s most exciting and ambitious green projects is the Spring Creek Greenway, which preserves 12,000 acres of forest on both sides of the creek, making it the longest contiguous forested urban corridor in the nation. Several large anchor parks along the Spring Creek Greenway are ready to enjoy, including 55-acre Dennis Johnston Park, featuring a popular loop trail, a fishing pond, and a butterfly and hummingbird garden.

In Northeastern Houston, communities are set along the banks of Lake Houston, and the San Jacinto River, and nestled among the thick Pineywood Forest, also offering an enticing healthy lifestyle in the great green outdoors. Not only can residents play in and on the area’s lakes and rivers, but they can also appreciate the natural world at a variety of lovely parks, or try the many golf courses in the area. Excellent historic and cultural museums and fine performing arts venues also offer entertainment.

Educational options for relocating families are excellent. For Northwest Houston, Cypress-Fairbanks, Houston, Klein, Magnolia, Montgomery, Spring, and Tomball Independent School Districts are among the very best in Texas. Additionally, there is an outstanding variety of private and parochial schools from which to choose. In the Northeast, 11 independent school districts offer outstanding public education, and many have received numerous rewards for their efforts. Most districts offer dual credit programs so students can earn high school and college credits at the same time.

There are also many adult educational opportunities to be found at Houston Community College, Lone Star Community College System, and San Jacinto College as well as other well-respected universities and colleges in the surrounding areas.
